Gotham Night and Diana Ricketts Complete Their First NATRC Ride
Diana and Gotham attended their very first North American Trail Ride Conference ( NATRC) competitive trail ride held at Biltmore Estate near Asheville NC. The ride was about 22 miles long. It was so beautiful there and the trials were impeccable. This is a not to be missed place to ride your horse. You can rent a gorgeous, grass filled, ¼ acre paddock for $10 a night.
NATRC rides are not like a classic endurance/speed event and it seems that most horses can easily handle the Novice distance and pace. It was so much fun. It is like a hunter pace where you are expected to come in at an "ideal time” (in other words, you can lose points for going too fast as well as too slow). The time for this ride is somewhere between 4-5 mph, which is fast walk and a fair amount of trot.
